What is ITIL®?

ITIL® stands for the IT Infrastructure Library, which is a set of five core books providing guidance on good practice in the delivery of IT Services. IT Service is explained as a professional practice that focuses on delivering value to business and external customers by means of processes, functions and roles that support a Service Lifecycle.

ITIL has been adopted extensively by organisations of all types and sizes around the world. It is respected because it is non-proprietary and valued because it is non-prescriptive. The guidance was central to the development of the ISO/IEC20000 standard for delivery of IT Services and formed the basis of Microsoft's MOF and eTOM for the telecommunications industry.

Who can take part in ITIL Training?

Anyone can take part in ITIL Training. Typically this includes all levels of personnel within an IT Service Delivery Organisation, as well as internal Account Managers who interact between the business and IT. ITIL trained people will understand how to manage and deliver an IT Service which is tailored to meet the needs of the business.

Testing

Certification examinations for IT Service Management are conducted at the end of each course.  Re-sits may be taken after a delay of 21 days and individual sessions can be arranged when required.  Support is available for those who need to re-sit exams for a period of 90 days after the course.
